Elite Gate Installation in West Hollywood: What to Know First

Elite gate installation in West Hollywood typically runs $1,900 to $6,400 depending on whether you’re putting in a single swing gate or a full double driveway setup with a new operator. We’re an independent Elite service provider, which means we install and service those gates without being tied to the manufacturer’s price book or their parts-only warranty rules. Most single-gate Elite installations take us one full day on site; a double gate with new posts and an operator runs two days.

If you own an Elite gate, or you’re considering one for a hillside driveway in the Hollywood Hills West or Norma Triangle neighborhoods, this page is for you. We’re Gatewood Fence & Gate, and Hal Gatewood has been working on gates in and around West Hollywood since 2001. Call (323) 677-4063 and a live person answers. No phone tree, no “press 2 for service.”

How Elite Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • Elite SL3000 slide gate operators and the capacitor-drift problem. On the SL3000 series, we regularly see the start capacitor drift out of spec after three to five years, which makes the gate strain to open and eventually stall halfway. The fix is a capacitor swap and a re-test of the limit switches. Some companies will tell you the whole board is dead and sell you a $900 replacement. We replace the capacitor for a fraction of that, and the gate runs clean again.
  • Elite CSW200 swing arms losing their travel limits. The CSW200 is a solid residential swing arm, but West Hollywood’s hillside gate posts settle over time. As the post leans even a quarter-inch, the arm’s internal limit switches get out of sync and the gate either doesn’t close fully or bangs against the stop. We re-bed the post or shim the arm mount, then re-teach the limits. You don’t need a new arm; you need the post corrected and the arm recalibrated.
  • Elite PR-series photo eyes failing in full sun. West Hollywood gets intense afternoon light against stucco walls, and we’ve seen PR-series photo eyes false-trip or refuse to close when direct sun hits the receiver. The real cause is usually improper placement during the original install, not a bad eye. We relocate the eye into a shaded position and hardwire a sun shield. That’s a $120 fix, not a $400 replacement.
  • Elite gate panels with welded hinge barrels cracking at the weld. On older Elite steel gates, especially single-swing driveway panels, the hinge barrel welds are the first thing to crack. Once water gets inside, rust spreads fast. We weld on site, in your driveway, grind the old weld clean, and re-weld with proper penetration. No hauling the gate off to some shop. The panel stays put.
  • Elite Miracle-One and older SL1000 boards failing after power surges. The older Elite boards, especially the Miracle-One, are sensitive to voltage spikes. On streets up near Laurel Canyon, we see them blow after transformer issues or lightning strikes. A generic replacement board can work, but the Elite OEM board holds its programming longer. We carry both and tell you the difference before you pay a dime.

Our Elite Gate Installation Process

Here’s what an Elite gate installation looks like when you call us:

  1. 1
You call. A person answers. Hal or his crew picks up, not a voicemail. Tell us what you’ve got, what it’s doing wrong, and where in West Hollywood you are. We’ll give you a straight answer about whether it’s worth a site visit.
  2. 2
We come out and look at the actual gate. We check the posts, the panel, the hinges, the operator, the wiring. We don’t quote over the phone on a guess. If you’ve got a written estimate from another company, bring it out, and we’ll give you a free second opinion.
  3. 3
We give you a price before any work starts. That price is what you pay. No trip charge if you’re inside the county. No “oh, we found more once we got into it” surprises.
  4. 4
We do the work on site. We weld in your driveway, set posts in concrete, run the conduit, mount the operator, and wire the photo eyes. If it’s a double gate, we’ll set both leaves and sync them.
  5. 5
We test it six times before we leave. The gate cycles clean a half-dozen times before we call it done. Hal won’t walk away from a gate that cycles sloppy.
  6. 6
You get the 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If it’s not right, you call, and we come back. No runaround, no arguing about whose fault it is.

What Elite Gate Installation Costs in West Hollywood

Elite Gate Job Typical Price Range What Moves the Price
Single swing gate, existing posts reused $1,900 - $3,200 Gate width, steel gauge, operator model
Single swing gate with one new post $2,600 - $4,100 Concrete depth, hillside slope, access
Double swing gate with two new posts $4,200 - $6,400 Total gate width, operator type, wiring runs
Slide gate (single panel, new track) $3,400 - $5,800 Track length, motor plate, gate weight
Pedestrian gate with Elite keypad access $1,300 - $2,600 Post setting, keypad model, wiring

The biggest cost driver in West Hollywood is the post work. Hillside soil means deeper footings, and a driveway that slopes hard means more concrete time. We’ll tell you what moves the price before you sign anything. Call (323) 677-4063 for a free estimate. The price we quote is the price you pay.

Why West Hollywood Homeowners Call Gatewood Fence & Gate for Elite Work

Most of our regulars found us the hard way. They called a big company that quoted one number on the phone and charged another at the door. They won’t do that again, and they don’t have to. We’re locally owned and owner-operated. Hal Gatewood’s name is on the shop. His address is published. You can drive by and look him in the eye, and he’ll tell you the truth about your gate.

We service nine major brands, including Elite, LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing. Why does that matter for your Elite job? Because when a part is backordered or discontinued, we know which aftermarket option actually works without voiding the warranty. We’ve been doing this for over 29 years, and the 90-Day Done Right Promise is stamped in writing on every job. A live person answers the phone 24/7. Not a call center, not a chatbot. The person who answers is the person who shows up.
