Which Mighty Mule Models This Applies To

We work on the full Mighty Mule lineup that’s common in West Hollywood driveways: the MM series (MM260, MM360, MM371, MM372, MM571, MM572), the FM series, and the newer MMX and MMS models. When we do use aftermarket steel, it’s equal or heavier gauge than OEM. When the OEM bracket is available and the gate hasn’t mangled it, we’ll quote you that part straight. Bring the model number off the opener arm, or even a photo of the plate, and we’ll know what we’re dealing with before we roll the truck.

Signs Your Mighty Mule Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate sags toward the latch or scrape marks appear on the driveway. This is almost always a worn or cracked hinge weld, not a bent gate frame. A gate sags in the hinge post, not in the middle, and that is where we start.
• The opener groans or strains, but the gate still moves. The motor is fighting extra friction from a dragging hinge or a misaligned catch. Keep running it and you’ll burn the board or strip the screw drive in the opener.
• You can lift the gate and feel vertical play at the hinge. That’s a wallowed-out hinge barrel or a loosened post sleeve. Tightening the bolt helps for a week, then it’s loose again because the metal around the hole is gone.
• The gate bangs or bounces when it closes. Wear in the strike plate or the close-stop lets the gate travel past where it should. Over time this cracks the frame at the catch point.
